ST. MARY'S HOLY NAME SOCIETY

St. Mary's Holy Name Society (October 2002)

The Holy Name Society is a confraternity of Catholic men which endeavors "to teach and nourish their souls through reverence to Jesus and His Holy Name." Every man in our parish should be a member. We attend Mass as a group and participate in corporate communion on the third Sunday of the month at the 9:00 AM Mass. After Mass we hold a meeting to socialize and discuss worthy projects involving the Church. We also attend Nocturnal Adoration on the first Friday of each month between the hours of 7:00-8:00 PM.

• We visit and pray for the sick, attend funerals and memorial services for our deceased members.

• We gain indulgences for attending corporate communions, and Nocturnal Adoration.

Some of our projects have included replacing the Nativity scene which had been lost in the flood, and new numbers for the hymnal board.

Most of our parish Eucharist Ministers are members of the Holy Name Society.

The Holy Name has sponsored fund raisers such as plays which included "Evita","The Sound of Music", "Annie" and "My Fair Lady".
